Sesa and Conflict Minerals: towards a Group socially responsible procurement policy

We are committed to constantly monitoring our supply chain to minimize the risks related to the purchase of materials that contain minerals from areas of conflict or from mining activities implicated in the violation of human rights.

In 2017, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted the Regulation (EU) 2017/821 laying down supply chain due diligence obligations for Union Importers of tin, tantalum and tungsten, their ores and gold originating from conflict affected and high-risk areas.

The regulation, aimed at reducing opportunities for trade with armed groups, promotes responsible sourcing of minerals and metals.

Our attention to Sustainability, the fight against the violation of human rights and environmental degradation, is also reflected in the choice to refuse any purchase of components that contain minerals from conflict zones or from plants located in the Conflict Region and/or not certified as “conflict-free”.

Sesa undertakes to constantly monitor its supply chain to minimize the risks related to the purchase of materials that contain minerals from areas of conflict or from mining activities implicated in the violation of human rights. Sesa also requires its suppliers to adequately monitor their supply chain in accordance with the provisions of the OECD Guidelines (www.oecd.org).
