Our ESG Strategy
Moving forward with purpose
Since our Group was founded, we have embarked on a journey aimed at integrating sustainability into our strategy and business model, building on a corporate culture based on close relationships with our stakeholders.
Our ESG strategy, which is constantly evolving, is based on the Group Purpose and fully supports its implementation:

Over the last few years, we have consolidated a solid ESG framework, divided into four key areas: Sustainability Governance, Environmental Responsibility, Social Development, and Human Resources.
Sustainability Governance
- Sustainable growth integrated into the Articles of Association as a strategic target of the Sesa Group (Extraordinary General Meeting of 2021)
Model 231 and Code of Ethics (documents also shared with the value chain)
- Solid corporate governance system (Board of Directors composed of Independent Directors and Internal Committees)
- Internal Sustainability Committee
- Chief Sustainability Officer overseeing sustainability issues
- Integrated management of ESG issues at Group level (Sustainability function centralised in the Parent company)
- Definition and spread of ESG policies and guidelines
- Obtainment and extension of the main Certifications at Group level (SA8000, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, PDR 125)
- Joining the United Nations Global Compact and dialogue with leading rating agencies (MSCI, CDP, S&P, EcoVadis)
Environmental Responsibility
- Programmes for the reduction of natural resources consumption
- Programmes for increasing electricity production from renewable sources (self-production)
- Programmes for the purchase of electricity from 100% renewable sources (Canceling Guarantees of Origin)
- Obtaining UNI EN ISO 14001 Environmental Certification and extension to the main Group companies
- Carbon Reduction Programmes in line with European directives (2030 Agenda)
- Full reporting of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions
- Business lines dedicated to environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and lower consumption of natural resources
- Group Environmental Policy
- Approval of a Sustainability Plan including ESG Targets
- Conflict Minerals Policy
- Mobility Manager (appointed in 2022)
- Waste management and recovery processes aimed at recycling materials
- Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) Report (published in 2025)
Human Resources & Welfare
Corporate Welfare Plan as a tool for work-life balance and human resources well-being
- Diversity Manager (appointed in 2022)
- Specific training on ESG, Human Rights, 2030 Agenda, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
- Increase in training hours provided
- Obtaining UNI PDR 125:2022 Gender Equality Certification and extension to the main Group companies
- Increasing integration of ESG targets into the MBOs (Management by Objectives) of all key Group resources
- Adoption of hybrid working methods and digital collaboration
- Internal and external awareness programmes (information and training programmes)
- Promotion of an inclusive workplace focused on wellbeing and the principles of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Economic and Social Development
- Value generation in a responsible way for social community and stakeholders
- Business model focused on progressive and sustainable growth
- Strong sense of responsibility towards shareholders, employees, customers and the communities in which we operate
- Increase in philanthropic and social activities promoted by the Sesa Foundation
- Stakeholder Relations Team dedicated to stakeholder engagement as an integral part of the Group’s ESG strategy
